Trick Customized Ducati Streetfighter Takes Bling to a New Level

high res thumb Trick Customized Ducati Streetfighter Takes Bling to a New LevelSome people see motorcycles as pieces of performance art whilst still others see them only as a blank canvas, a mere starting point from which to create something special and unique. Clearly Shift-Tech belong to the second group as they sculpted this Ducati Streetfighter Special in just 4 weeks using a combination of high end off the shelf, and custom components.

IMG 0921 thumb Trick Customized Ducati Streetfighter Takes Bling to a New LevelDucati’s Streetfighter, the successor to the Monster S4Rs is already effectively a 1098 with the bodywork torn off with the performance to match. It produces 155bhp, more than enough to motivate it’s svelte 373lb (169kg). Most people when they receive their new bike just want to go ride it. Shift-Tech, purveyors of performance carbon, in collaboration with Moto Corse Performance, decided it was better to tear it down and begin the process of creating a unique motorcycle that could be shown at the Ducati Concorso to be held at the Indianapolis MotoGP (August 28-30).

CIMG1 thumb Trick Customized Ducati Streetfighter Takes Bling to a New LevelThe bike features some of the highest quality components you can put on any motorcycle, things like Ohlins R&T forks, a TTX rear shock from the same company and gorgeous carbon fiber BST rims. Given Shift-Tech’s raison d’être it shouldn’t be surprising to see a plethora of carbon on this bike. You name it, it’s been swapped out, from the key guard and gas cap through to the fender, hugger and undertray. Even the throttle body mounting bracket is in carbon. Not to show too much favoritism to the black weave, titanium has had it’s day too with the lightweight metal used for the axle nuts (the front axle is aluminum) and brake caliper bolts and the like relieving the Streetfighter of a bag of stock nuts and bolts that weighs some 4lbs!

CIMG2 thumb Trick Customized Ducati Streetfighter Takes Bling to a New LevelPerhaps the thing that stands out first is the custom single termignoni exhaust system which removes the most unsightly part of the stock machine replacing it with a much smaller and lighter serpentine of goodness.

It all isn’t just for show, there are some bona fide high end performance components on the bike too. Naturally the carbon rims lower total and, more importantly unsprung and rotating mass, improving acceleration, turn in and braking. The bike has an EVR slipper clutch to help keep the wheels inline during maximum effort corner entries and the brakes have been significantly upgraded with ceramic rotors and an upgraded Brembo master cylinder. The engine is still stock but that’s okay because there are plans to fit a 180 bhp, 1098R engine although that may not be done prior the Indy show!!

All that is left to say is that the work appears tastefully done with quality components and I’m jealous. If you are going to the Indy MotoGP check it out!!
