Adding to the disappointment of crashing out of 6th place on the last lap of the Dutch TT MotoGP race last weekend, Pramac Ducati rider Mika Kallio will sit out the US GP at Laguna Seca this 4th of July weekend due to a injury to his left ring finger sustained in the crash.
MotoGP Rookie Mika Kallio has been blowing hot and cold this season starting the season strongly with two 8th places before crashing out of the next 2 races. He crashed out of 6th place on the last lap of the Dutch TT showing that he has impressive pace on the Ducati GP9 but needs to find consistency.
The crash ground his left hand ring finger to the bone, taking the nail bed along the way. The nature of the injury means he won’t race at Laguna Seca and will have a skin graft after the following two races to permanently close the wound.
“I was so excited to race at Laguna Seca, but I guess destiny wanted it to be this way and I will have to miss out, which is a pity. We have taken this decision together with Pramac Racing and I think this is probably the best way. Laguna would have been a new circuit to learn for me and with my physical condition we thought it would have been too risky. I will look after myself in the best way possible to be in good form at Sachsenring, which is one of my favorite circuits

The team won’t replace Kallio at Laguna Seca so team-mate Niccolo Canepa will make his debut in the US alone.
