Best Photos Yet of 2010 Ducati Multistrada
Photos of the 2010 Ducati Adventure Tourer / Multistrada Replacement continue to leak onto the web ahead of the presumed unveiling of the new model at the EICMA Show in Milan this November. The latest pics reinforce the notion that this is no BMW R1200G/S competitor but remains very much road orientated machine in the vein of the Triumph Tiger.
The latest pictures come from Italy’s Motociclismo (English Translation) which reports on two bikes photographed by a reader. The photos are the best yet showing the bike with the least camouflage and confirming the 4-valve powerplant along with the usual suspects- Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes and Marchesini wheels. The rear shock absorber is mounted on the left side of the bike and seems devoid of a rising rate linkage in a similar manner to the Supersports range.
The bike has a snorkel in the front fairing presumably feeding the airbox and features the stylized cam belt covers first seen on the new Ducati Streetfighter. ducatinewstoday believes the powerplant will be 1098 based with the 1198 engine reserved for the Superbike range given the growing proliferation of the the use of the 4-valve engine in this application, the Streetfighter and the rumored Ducati Vyper Power Cruiser.
Twin exhausts exit on the right hand side but the system looks visually restrictive and it is reasonable to assume the 1098 powerplant has been retuned for this application likely producing somewhat less than the 155bhp claimed for the Streetfighter but still more than its competitors. The bike is clearly oriented for comfort with a large seat, relaxed seat / peg/ bar dimensions and the convenience of a center stand something that is almost extinct these days.
Spanish language site, Solo Moto (English Translation) has posted an artist’s rendition based on the spy shots which at least is true to the awkward style of the existing Multistrada!.
ducatinewstoday first covered this machine in February with spy pics and then triangulated some information from the Australian Ducati importer in March that confirmed the existence of the new model.
“Our adventure bike will be a lightweight sporty model with a swingarm similar to the 1098, a tall screen, and it will be the lightest with the best performance in its class,” said Warren Lee, the official Australian Ducati importer.
