Wallpaper Wednesday: Ducati 1098R F09 Factory Superbike
Welcome to Wallpaper Wednesday. Every week I will post up something beautiful from the world of Ducati that you just might like to have grace your desktop. This week we have the 2009 factory Xerox Ducati 1098R F09 World Superbike racers as ridden by Noriyuki Haga and Michel Fabrizio.
Representing the pinnacle of Ducati’s V-twin hegemony, the factory racers like many racebikes have a profound beauty born out of the dedication to function over form. The engine is limited to 200 bhp by a 50mm throttle body restrictor (this is not a feature of Larry Pegram’s American Superbike machine) which is still enough for a top speed approaching 200mph. Despite rapid advancements made by the Japanese 4 cylinder competition the larger capacity (1,200cc vs. 1,000) twin albeit restricted is still the bike to beat as evidenced by Haga’s championship points lead and his team mate’s 3rd position.
