Encouraging News for Haga – Might be Racing at Brno

haga thumb Encouraging News for Haga Might be Racing at BrnoAfter a nasty crash put him into hospital during the 2nd race of the World Superbike round at Donington Park, Noriyuki Haga’s hope of taking his first ever World Superbike Championship seemed to be fading fast once it was revealed that his injuries included a damaged vertebrae in addition to a fractured wrist and suspected fractured scapula. However a further CT scan has revealed that the putative fractures of the T8 & T9 vertebrae could actually be the remains of a previous accident.

If this is true it might mean that Haga could be back in the saddle at the next round at Brno as an operation would not be necessary. However the wrist and shoulder-blade still need to be dealt with.

“This is good news” declared team manager Davide Tardozzi, “but of course it needs to be confirmed tomorrow, Monday. Nori will for sure undergo an operation on the ulna bone of his right forearm, because it is a displaced fracture and there is also a suspected fracture of the scapula (shoulder blade) bone. It is clear however that if he really doesn’t need to have an operation to the vertebrae he could get away with a month’s rest”.

Luckily for the Sultan of Slide, the next round is almost a month away giving him more time than normal between races to recover from his injuries. More information on his prognosis should be available soon.
