Every week I will post up something beautiful from the world of Ducati that you just might like to have grace your desktop. This week we have the 2005 Ducati 999R, the finest variant of the controversial 999 range (save for the almost identical 2006 Xerox replica model).

At $29,995 it was a lot of money but it was a lot of bike. It is hard to believe that just 2 years later, Ducati would replace the 999 with the 1098, a machine just half the price but with 10 more claimed horsepower.

  1. Why do both of these bikes appear to have their front tires mounted backwards, so the sipes would force water to the _inside_, should any be encountered? Oops.

    I admit it looks wierd but it is correct. Check out this picture of my bike
