Wallpaper Wednesday: 1974 Ducati 750 Super Sport
Welcome to Wallpaper Wednesday. Every week I will post up something beautiful from the world of Ducati that you just might like to have grace your desktop. This week we have the quintessential bevel drive Ducati, the famous and extremely valuable 1974 Ducati 750 Super Sport.
In 1972, Ducati put itself on the superbike map after Englishman Paul Smart won the Imola 200 roadrace. Smart new little about Ducati at the time and legend has it didn’t want the ride but had to accept since his wife agreed on his behalf when the call from the factory came. Nevertheless the win in the prestigious race made Ducati a credible large capacity bike manufacturer for the first time and rest is history. The 1974 Ducati 750 Super Sport was heavily based on the racer and was made to celebrate the win and is undoubtedly the most desirable of all Ducatis today. Only 401 were ever made and the model routinely changes hands at auction in excess of US$40,000.
