Régis Laconi’s Operation Deemed a Success

pa588215 thumb Régis Laconis Operation Deemed a SuccessSurgery performed on Tuesday has been deemed a success and is a little piece of good news for Frenchman Régis Laconi following his horrific crash during practice for the World Superbike races in Kayalami, South Africa last weekend.

Following his violent highside in Friday morning practice on the first lap, it was not certain when an operation to stabilize his two fractured cervical veterbrae would be performed and Laconi was placed in a pharmacological coma. The fact that the operation was performed and it went according to plan is good news although a long convalescence is ahead before a return to racing can be considered.

After this lengthy operation, Laconi was moved to intensive care for the normal period of convalescence following this type of injury. He is reported to be reacting well and in the next 24 hours will be reawakened once again to begin the long period of rehabilitation.
