Haga Shows why he is the Championship Leader Xerox Ducati’s Noriyuki Haga won Race 1 of the Kyalami round of the World Superbike Championship ahead of his teammate, Michel Fabrizio. Yamaha’s Ben Spies took 3rd place. The results further opens the lead in championship for the Japanese rider to 63 points.

Following news of Frenchman Régis Laconi’s crash and serious injury yesterday the team have provided an update. Surgery that was originally planned for Friday evening was postponed. Although Laconi has broken his C3 and C5 veterbrae, a CT scan has not revealed any neurological damage which is encouraging.

Repsol Honda’s, Dani Pedrosa claimed his first pole position of the season ahead of tomorrow’s 4th round of the 2009 MotoGP World Championship in Le Mans, France. Pedrosa just managed to snatch the position from Fiat Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo, who stopped the clocks just 5 thousands of a second behind his Spanish rival.

Ducati DFX rider, Régis Laconi has suffered a severe cervical veterbrae trauma in a crash that occurred during the first lap of the opening practice session for the Kyalami round of the World Superbike Championships. He is reportedly in a critical condition.

A rain affected first practice session for this weekends 4th round of the MotoGP World Championship saw Marlboro Ducati rider Casey Stoner finish 2nd fastest behind Repsol Honda’s Andrea Dovizioso. Nicky Hayden continues to struggle in the early running with the 15th fastest time.

Ducati has decided to share the development of the Desmosedici RR road bike which is a replica of the last 990cc MotoGP racer, the GP6 which finished first and second at the final round of the 2006 series at Valencia. Video Number 3 is now available.
