Rookie Pramac Ducati racer Mika Kallio has lashed out at struggling Nicky Hayden on the factory Ducati after clashing with the American during last weekends French MotoGP round at Le Mans. Kallio crashed whilst attempting to overtake Hayden on the 11th lap.
The promising young rookie who finished in 8th place in his first two MotoGP races failed to finish in Spain and crashed out at Le Mans whilst attempting to pass Hayden for 8th place yet again.
“We were doing really well, I chose the right moment to change bikes and I was in a good position. I reached Hayden and I tried to overtake him on the inside. All of a sudden he changed line and I had to pass outside where there was a wet spot on the track and I slipped. He probably didn’t see me. I am very sad about it because I was feeling really good.”
Of course Nicky didn’t see things the same way and felt that Kallio hit his machine which hampered his progress for the rest of the race. Nicky ultimately crossed the line in 12th place. However Kallio’s Technical Director added fuel to the fire by referring to the crash as due to Mika closing in on a slow rider in an obvious reference to the American who has struggled to come to terms with the Ducati so far this season.
“Mika’s crash was due to a wet patch he hit while overtaking a much slower rider, who didn’t see that he was arriving.
