Welcome to Wallpaper Wednesday. Every week I will post up something beautiful from the world of Ducati that you just might like to have grace your desktop. This week we the last and greatest 916 based machines, the Ducati 998 Testastretta.
Tamburini’s beautiful styling which had wooed the motorcycling world from the Ducati 916′s debut remained true through a steady stream of improvements to maintain the model’s competitiveness as a World Superbike racer, the key feature of the 998 was a redesigned engine. The so called testastretta (narrow head in Italian) allowed for much steeper valve angles than the old desmoquattro engine which harked back to the 851. The engine was unchanged for the controversial 2003 Ducati 999 and was still available in 2008 in the Ducati Monster S4Rs Tricolore.
