Pegram and Ducati Qualify 3rd Fastest Daytona Superbike Superpole

weddaytona12 thumb Pegram and Ducati Qualify 3rd Fastest Daytona Superbike SuperpoleLarry Pegram posted the third fastest time in provisional qualifying for the first round of the new American Superbike class at Daytona. Pegram and his Ducati 1098R lapped at 1:38.455 behind the Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s of Mat Mladlin Tommy Hayden.

Pegram’s bike has been fast all through the practice and qualifying sessions, topping 199 mph. He responded to questions at the qualifying press conference.

The bike’s really good. I think we’re ahead of the game right now on most of the guys. A lot of teams, like Suzuki, they’re running their old bikes – or their ’08 bikes, I guess, they’re not their old bikes. They can’t run their old bikes. But I think we have an advantage right now, because our bike’s pretty well developed. We’re not going to make any more power throughout the season, really, than we have now. We have the full spec engine, and we have everything done to it. So I think we’re ahead of everybody right now a little bit. That’s nice at this racetrack, for sure.
