Speculation about Ducati’s intentions to launch a motorcycle in the popular adventure tourer class next year has been rife after various spy photos have been circulated around the web. The stories have been given considerable credibility now that the official Australian Ducati importer, Warren Lee, has spilled the beans to a local newspaper.
After announcing in 2007 that the company intended to introduce 10 new models by 2010 there has been intense debate about how far Ducati can stretch the brand identity. ducatinewstoday first covered the Adventure tourer rumors in February of this year where we mused that it was in fact a replacement for the Multistrada.
Now it would appear that the tall, 1098 powered machine is more of a competitor for the BMW R1200GS and KTM Adventure but more street focussed and with higher performance more in the realm of the Triumph Tiger.
“Our adventure bike will be a lightweight sporty model with a swingarm similar to the 1098, a tall screen, and it will be the lightest with the best performance in its class,” said Warren Lee, the official Australian Ducati importer.

To be certain, I guess we will likely need to wait until the EICMA Milan motorcycle show in November for all to be revealed. Personally I would rather an updated Multistrada for street use but it just isn’t sexy is it!!
