Although it is oxymoronic to talk about motorcycles as investments, Motorcycle News is reporting that a Ducati was the best motorcycle investment in the UK last year according to price experts. However Ducatisti can’t be too pleased with themselves because another Ducati model was the worst performer in terms of depreciation over 12 months.

If you can call losing almost a quarter of its value in just 12 months then indeed, the Ducati 1098 tricolore was a good performer. On the flip side, the runt of the litter was the Ducati 749 Dark.
The multicoloured superbike lost less than a quarter of its full sticker-price value. That compares with the worst-performing Ducati – the 749 Dark – which lost almost half its value in 12 months.
Ironically, if you had purchased either machine in the UK in 2008 you stood to lose about the same amount of money 12 months down the track. $5,000 is a big hit to take in one year. I’m so pleased I bought used!!
