World Superbikes Kicks Off! – Spies Fastest in 1st Practice

Spies Fastest in 1st PracticeCompetitors in the 2009 World Superbike Championship took to the track in anger for the first time this year at the spectacular Phillip Island circuit in Victoria, Australia for the first Free Practice Session. Series rookie, Ben Spies, led the way on the new Yamaha R1.

Noriyuki Haga was 6th fastest, lapping 1/2 a second slower. Régis Laconi was the fastest Ducati rider in 5th place. One second covered the top 13 riders.

Qualifying begins this at 1415 Australian time.
