Top 10 Things I Love about Ducati

10. Ducati is Italian. Italy is a nation of people filled with passion and that passion has spilt over into their products. Nowhere is this more apparent than in vehicles. In a very small area surrounding the Ducati factory you will find Bimota, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati.

9. Ducati’s are Beautiful. Whether it is a Monster, SuperMono, 750SS or the classic Ducati of the modern era, the 916, Ducati make some of the most beautiful bikes the world has seen. Ducati’s styling signature includes the single sided swingarm and the under-seat exhaust.
8. Ducati’s Sound Fantastic. The 90 degree, V-twin sound has been likened to motorcycling’s equivalent to the V8. The Ducati twin rumble, preferably with termignoni pipes combined with the rattling dry clutch turns heads.

7. Ducati goes Racing. Ducati dominates the World Superbike championship and won the MotoGP championship in 2007. Some of the world’s best and most popular motorcycle racers are closely associated with Ducati such as Carl Fogarty, Troy Bayliss and Mike Hailwood.

6. Ducati Legends. In 1972, Ducati put itself on the superbike map after Englishman Paul Smart won the Imola 200 roadrace. Smart new little about Ducati at the time and legend has it didn’t want the ride but had to accept since his wife agreed on his behalf when the call from the factory came.

This is just one of the Ducati legends that makes the brand special. One of the others is the return of Mike Hailwood to the Isle of Mann TT in 1978 after 11 years in retirement. The result. He won the F1 race on a Ducati.

5. Ducati Power Delivery. Long considered as having a better power delivery for the road than comparative Japanese multi-cylinder bikes, the V-twin powerplant lends itself to a torquey delivery concentrated in the mid-range which is more important than peak power for riding on the road.

4. Ducati Top Shelf Components. Many models in the Ducati lineup feature the very best components. Suspension by Ohlins, brakes by Brembo and forged wheels by Marchesini.
3. Ducatis Stand Out. Ducati only produces around 40,000 motorcycles per year whereas Honda makes over 13 million. Riding a Ducati is a much more individual statement!
2. Ducatisti. Ducati fans share a common passion and are happy to meet, socialize and help each other all over the world.

1. Ducatis make you feel Alive. Okay, so all bikes can provide a buzz and place you squarely in the moment, but there is something special about Ducati. Hard to define, some call it character. Whatever it is, the sum of the other 9 things I love come together in a fusion that makes every ride something very special.
